My Current Skin Care Routine

As my introduction back into blogging i am starting with the basics!! Skincare is one of the most important steps in my daily beauty routine and i definitely don't take it lightly!! Makeup looks and feels 100 times better when you have a perfected canvas to work on! Even with my clients in and outside of work i STRESS how crucial it is to take proper care of the skin in order to achieve desired looks both with and without the use of cosmetics! I know most of you agree!!

Working at Sephora i get my hands on a lot of skincare product daily, too much sometimes, but I've weeded through things and found what works best for my skin. Ive been using this specific routine for a solid 6 months now. A few items I've had and used for over a year and I've slowly integrated in some new items to create MY perfect regime.

Now, bare with my bare face photos so you can really see what I'm working with!

(All photos were taken in daylight with my iPhone 5s camera with the HDR setting on. No editing has been done to these photos in order to show the truest form of my skin)

As you can see in the photos, I do have some minor freckling, A few acne scars on the chin/jawline area that I'm still working on, and i do have some resting creases on the forehead (I'm VERY expressive)

Now for the Routine!! Its pretty extensive. It takes forever. Its a pain in the ass to do every day, but i won't go a day without it.

Daytime Routine

Step One: Cleansing!
Pillows are dirty! I don't care how often you wash your sheets, there is always going to be some sort of debris or residual oils hanging out on your bed at some point! (i try hard to sleep on my back so my skin avoids contact with the pillow, also helps avoid wrinkles!! ;) ) So i make sure to always cleanse my skin every morning. I keep my cleanser very simple and to the point. No anti aging claims, no acids, no nonsense, just cleaning. I have been using my Caudalie Instant Foaming Cleanser for 2 years now and i love it! Its natural, soap free, and doesn't leave me feeling dry or tight!

Step Two: Treatment!
The skin on your face, let alone your body, is never the same all the way around. What might be an issue in one spot my not even exist in another. This is why i use 2 serums in the morning!! I need to be able to tackle those different concerns and one product may not get the job done. As i mentioned before i do have those resting creases on my forehead, so i apply the Dr Brandt DNA Transforming Pearl Serum JUST on that area, as well as in-between the brows for preventative measure. This serum offers me the freshest amount of its ingredients with every use because of the little pearls. Those pearls release their treatment when pumped out of the container!

The other treatment i use is applied to the rest of my face. The Lancome DreamTone  aids in color correction, and dark spot removal which is my main concern with the acne scarring thats still left behind! It also gives my skin this velvety softness that is great under makeup!

Step Three: Moisturizer!
Along with the cleanser, i like to keep this part very simple!! Im currently using the Fresh Rose Hydrating Gel Cream to keep my normal to dry skin hydrated for the entire day! It has cucumber extract and rosewater which soothes and moisturizes but doesn't leave my feeling too heavy or greasy!

Step Four: Eye Cream(s)!
Perricone Cold Plasma Eye is my eye treatment. I repeat, eye treatment. Just like the treatments above, this is more of a serum that you would use before applying your regular eye cream. Since the under eye skin is a lot thinner and more fragile then the rest of the face, i think its only fair that we treat it the same if not better! Treatments do all of the anti aging work and combat your fine lines, wrinkles, puffiness, dark circles. This little guy does all of that PLUS enhances the effectiveness of whatever eye cream you choose to put on top of it!! It's like a little booster for your eyes!

Last but not least is Origins GinZing Eye Cream. I like this over top the cold plasma because it offers the brightening effects i need during the day!! It has the prettiest opalescent glow that really wakes up the under eye area and is packed with caffeine, magnolia and other great natural ingredients!! Really good for late nights and lack of sleep!!

NightTime Routine

Step One: Cleanser!
My Beloved night time cleanser is not pictured above due to its hot messiness. It is sadly in pieces on my sink because its time for a new slice! I am currently using the Lush Fresh Farmacy Bar Soap! I was turned onto it a couple years ago from a friend that had suffered from the same awful cystic breakouts that i was experiencing. I haven't looked back since! It has Calamine, Lavender, and Tea Tree Oil to help with problematic or oily skin types. While i may not be oily, it does help soothe and repair when i have my occasional blemish!

Step Two: Treatment!
This right here is my HOLY GRAIL. My never live without ever again, life changing, product!! Perricone Blue Plasma is hands down my top skincare item. I recommend it to almost everyone and most of the time, everyone gets hooked like i did!! I started using it when it first came out and when i was still having very bad cystic breakouts along my jawline and cheekbones. I was trying it out just to try it out. Being a new product we had in store it was kind of just an experiment at the time, but has become a love affair. I had just run out of my prescribed topical medication (Epiduo) and my oral (spirnolactone). I have NOT had to use any of those meds since. Blue Plasma is a non acidic daily peel, (i apply mine only at night) that uses salmon egg extract and Micro Extractions that really dig deep into the skin, clearing out all of the debris, and providing luminosity and improved skin look and texture without irritation or redness! If you have the chance to take a sample home, DO IT! Im so glad i gave it a chance!

Step Three: Moisturizer!
On occasion i will apply an oil before i use a regular cream depending on how i treated my skin that day!! Pictured above is the Nude Pro Genius Oil which is rich in omegas 3, 6, 7, and 9. Or i will use the Ren Rose O12 Moisture Defense Serum when i need a little bit more radiance! While adding an oil can be beneficial, it is not totally necessary. It all depends on your skins personal needs!

Another newfound love of mine is the Algenist Genius Cream. This stuff is pure magic, especially paired with my Blue Plasma! With the combined properties of Alguronic Acid and Microalgae Oil its a powerful cream that helps with skin texture, fine lines, wrinkles, firmness, hydration and much more!! It feels exquisite on the skin and really gives a supple feel and appearance!! I use mine as a night cream so when my body is sleeping and repairing itself i can get all of the nutrients it offers and wake up with glowing skin! Another item i highly suggest picking up a sample of and falling in love with!

Step Four: Eye Cream(s)!
At night, the Cold Plasma Eye is applied again for treatment purposes and then i follow it with the Origins Plantscription AntiAging Eye Cream! Origins uses the ingredient Anogeissus which is derived from trees in South Asia that helps with crows feet, deep wrinkles, and loss of firmness! Along with the GinZing eye above, it is very gentle on the eye area. While i am still 26 years young, I am trying to be more preventative with my eyes, especially with all the wear and tear i put on them!

So that is it, and yes, there are other add ons through out the week…. Exfoliators, peels, masks, all depending on the condition of my skin, but these are the main components of my skincare routine day in and day out. Who knows, some of these things might change in the coming months too but right now they are working fantastic!! I hope this gave you some insight and maybe some inspiration for something new to try!! Let me know if you have any questions below!!!
